Tim Tebow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bigredsportsmachine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Tebow.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-844\" alt=\"Tebow\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bigredsportsmachine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Tebow-300x199.jpg?resize=300%2C199&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.bigredsportsmachine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Tebow.jpg?resize=300%2C199&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.bigredsportsmachine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Tebow.jpg?resize=450%2C300&amp;ssl=1 450w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.bigredsportsmachine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Tebow.jpg?w=635&amp;ssl=1 635w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>If The Machine\u2019s ticket to Hell hasn\u2019t already been punched, it sure is now.\u00a0 How can you possibly Teabag Tim Tebow, you ask?\u00a0 His character is beyond repute, his work ethic unquestionable, and his passion for life is infectious.\u00a0 And he\u2019s a huge fan of J.C.<\/p>\n<p>While all those things may be true, ironically, Tim has yet to see the light.\u00a0 For if he had, he would know this:\u00a0 he\u2019s not an NFL quarterback.\u00a0 He\u2019s not even a CFL, IFL, or Arena League quarterback.\u00a0 Perhaps Arena League 2 (if that\u2019s still around).\u00a0 Perhaps.<\/p>\n<p>As an acknowledgment of this fact, Tebow\u00a0was cut by the Jets on Monday.\u00a0 The pathetic, offensively inept, New York Jets.\u00a0 The Jets had one of the worst offenses in the league last year, and he still wasn\u2019t able to get a start, being passed over by Greg McElroy after Sanchez was benched (butfumble\u00a02012 new word of the year, btw).\u00a0 The only thing worse than the Jet\u2019s offense last season is their front office management skills (Sanchez is getting $8.25 million guaranteed this year.\u00a0 Enough said).\u00a0 Tebow also went unclaimed on waivers&#8230;meaning none of the 31 other NFL teams thought he was worthy.<\/p>\n<p>Tebow\u2019s departure from New York is in sharp contrast to his arrival:\u00a0 he came in riding a tidal wave of support and a cult-like following.\u00a0 ESPN devoted every episode of Sportscenter\u00a0chronicling his every move.\u00a0 They set up permanent residency at Jets Training Camp.\u00a0 The New York media was instantly smitten\/disgusted with his Up with People demeanor.\u00a0 He was the most popular backup quarterback ever.\u00a0 Rex Ryan boasted that Tebow would be multiple ways, that he\u2019d be the wildcat quarterback of wildcat quarterbacks (can we all agree now that the wildcat is dead?).\u00a0 His final stats in New York: \u00a06 of 8 for 39 yards, and 32 rushes for 102 yards.\u00a0 No tds.\u00a0 Solid in punt protecting.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Now, not all of that is his fault.\u00a0 He wasn\u2019t utilized as much as people expected\u2026certainly not as much as the Jets hyped he would be used.\u00a0 But he shares the blame in getting cut.\u00a0 The Jets tried to trade Tebow\u00a0and there were some interested teams.\u00a0 The catch:\u00a0 they were interested in him playing tight end, not quarterback.\u00a0 Tight end seems like a natural position for Tebow.\u00a0 He\u2019s big, athletic, and good on his feet\u2026the modern day attributes of successful tight ends.\u00a0 So why wasn\u2019t he traded?\u00a0 He refused to switch positions, insisting that he\u2019s a quarterback.<\/p>\n<p>What Tebow needs is a come to Jesus moment.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure J.C. is a fan of the NFL (who isn\u2019t); he probably rocked a #15 Jets jersey on game days last year.\u00a0 But even he knows what we all know: Tebow\u2019s not an NFL quarterback, or rather, he\u2019s not a good (or even mediocre) NFL quarterback.\u00a0 The main problem is that he can\u2019t throw the ball.\u00a0 Do we even need to go any further?\u00a0 Forget the one pass he made in the playoffs in Denver, or that he \u201cled\u201d the Broncos to the playoffs in 2011\u2026we all know that was due, in very large part, to Denver\u2019s defense and running game.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That he won\u2019t agree to change positions is troubling.\u00a0 Either he (a) suffers from the worst case of lack of self-awareness of all-time; or (b) Merril Hoge is <a href=\"https:\/\/bleacherreport.com\/articles\/1456870-merril-hoge-is-right-to-call-tim-tebow-phony-after-latest-antics\">right<\/a>; he\u2019s as phony as a three dollar bill.\u00a0 For all the talk of him\u00a0being this selfless leader, a man who puts the glory of the team ahead of personal gain\u2026it\u2019s all bs.\u00a0 The Machine can&#8217;t possibly believe (a) is right, so it must be (b).\u00a0 His steadfast refusal to acknowledge the truth&#8211;that even he has shortcomings&#8211;cuts against his humble image and casts him as a stubborn, diva athlete who thinks he knows more than everyone.\u00a0 He may be a wonderful athlete and a wonderful person, but that doesn\u2019t free him from honest assessment of his game.\u00a0 And all honest assessments agree that he\u2019s not an NFL quarterback.<\/p>\n<p>Where will he end up?\u00a0 Who knows.\u00a0 His ego and pride are\u00a0too big to go to the CFL or Arena League and compete for a quarterback position (which he\u2019d likely lose).\u00a0 He\u2019ll probably end up alongside fellow bible-beater Kurt Warner on his USA TV show.\u00a0 He\u2019ll also likely give speeches at various churches throughout the country, extolling the virtues of perseverance, determination, and hard work;
