[BRSM follower]: \u00a0Hey, aren\u2019t you guys a little late to the draft party?\u00a0 I\u2019ve seen tons of mock drafts already.\u00a0 How come you guys haven\u2019t put one out yet?\u00a0 Kiper already has, like, 20 out.\u00a0 What\u2019s wrong with you guys?<\/p>\n

[Response]:\u00a0 While we appreciate the mock draft enthusiasm, mock drafts before free agency are absolute horseshit.\u00a0 My kids don\u2019t know their street address but they do know this:\u00a0 Free agency shapes the draft.\u00a0 Period.\u00a0 How many mock drafts did you see with Denver taking a quarterback?\u00a0 A lot.\u00a0 You think that\u2019s happening now that they just signed Case Keenum?\u00a0 The Browns just signed Carlos Hyde and are paying him starting RB money.\u00a0 You think they\u2019re going to draft Saquon #1 overall?\u00a0 No, but damn if he slips to #4 they should.<\/p>\n

And LOL at that Kiper shit.\u00a0 Our streak of more first round picks right than Kiper (and McShay) is guaranteed to continue.\u00a0 Just like a 1 beating a 16\u2026<\/p>\n

Instant Analysis:\u00a0 Yes, Cleveland needs (another) quarterback. \u00a0Since they also have the #4 pick, they could go another direction with their first pick (Saquon Barkley, Bradley Chubb) and then take whichever quarterback is there at 4.\u00a0 Sounds good in theory.\u00a0 However, you do not want to leave the quarterback position up to chance, especially not when you have the chance to pick whomever you want without worrying about what others are doing.\u00a0 As I\u2019m writing this, the Jets just traded up to #3.\u00a0 That pick is guaranteed to be a quarterback.\u00a0 No way Cleveland let\u2019s anyone pick a qb before them.\u00a0 Bet the house this pick is qb.\u00a0 My money\u2019s on Darnold.\u00a0 He\u2019s the most polished, pro-ready quarterback.<\/p>\n

Also, this Top 10 assumes no trades. \u00a0No way that\u2019s going to happen.\u00a0 There\u2019s an arms race brewing\u2026teams, cough\u2026Buffalo\u2026cough, are trying to position themselves to get one of the Top 3 quarterbacks.\u00a0 Some other teams are lurking (Miami, Arizona) that may try to make a move.\u00a0 As many as 4 quarterbacks could go in the first 10 picks (yes, we\u2019ll laugh at whatever sucker trades up for Johnny Football 2.0\u2026I mean, Baker Mayfield).\u00a0 That\u2019s going to make for some exciting trades come draft night.\u00a0 But we\u2019re getting ahead of ourselves.<\/p>\n

Rounding out the rest of the Top 10, the Giants stay put and take Saquon Barkley, whom many believe is the best player in the draft.\u00a0 The Giants are pretty vanilla when it comes to trades, especially in the first round.\u00a0 I don\u2019t see them moving from 2, unless someone really wows them.\u00a0 I\u2019m talking multiple first round picks (this year and next year).\u00a0 I\u2019m looking at you, Buffalo!<\/p>\n
