back with a brand new teabag.\u00a0 And this one\u2019s going to blow you away (pun intended).\u00a0 So let\u2019s light this candle and get this party started.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">First, happy belated Fourth of July.\u00a0 The Machine went full \u2018Murica over the weekend:\u00a0 we caught a major league game, drank a wheelbarrow full of beer, and of course, fireworks.\u00a0 We were a Toby Keith concert away from hitting the \u2018Murica cycle.\u00a0 Yes, we love the Fourth.\u00a0 To us, it\u2019s the official kickoff of summer.\u00a0 The days are longer, the beer is colder, baseball is starting to become slightly more relevant, and training camp is right around the corner.\u00a0 But it\u2019s inevitable that someone will take their love of the Fourth a bit too far, and that leads us to our Tuesday Teabag winner\u2026Jason Pierre-Paul.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Is there anyone that\u2019s having a worse post-Fourth hangover than JPP?\u00a0 Well, maybe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/news\/national\/subway-jared-fogle-suspect-child-porn-probe-report-article-1.2285416\">Jared<\/a>.\u00a0 Or <a href=\"https:\/\/profootballtalk.nbcsports.com\/2015\/07\/08\/donovan-mcnabb-takes-leave-of-absence-from-nbc-sports-radio-show\/\">Donovan<\/a>.\u00a0 But JPP\u2019s right up there.\u00a0 If you haven\u2019t heard, JPP spent his Fourth of July with a U-Haul truck full of fireworks.\u00a0 What could possibly go wrong?\u00a0 As it turns out, a lot.\u00a0 Pierre-Paul allegedly injured himself setting off fireworks, causing severe burns and significant damage to his hand.\u00a0 The extent of the injury is unknown, some reports say there\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/espn.go.com\/new-york\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/13203365\/jason-pierre-paul-new-york-giants-injures-hands-fireworks-accident\">possible nerve damage<\/a>. \u00a0Thanks to social media (and nosy neighbors) we got the play by play.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bigredsportsmachine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/JPP-Tweet.jpg?ssl=1\"><img src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While JPP\u2019s injury may not be career threatening, it\u2019s certainly going to be career limiting.\u00a0 This couldn\u2019t possibly come at a worse time for JPP.\u00a0 The Giants designated him as their franchise player, meaning he would play this year at a (fully guaranteed) price of $14.8 million.\u00a0 JPP has not signed his franchise contract yet\u2026preferring to hold out while trying to agree to a long term deal.\u00a0 All franchise players have until July 15 to sign a long term contract with their team.\u00a0 After that, their only option is to sign their one-year franchise contract.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Giants reportedly had a multi-year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/news\/story\/0ap3000000500185\/article\/new-york-giants-pull-60m-offer-to-jason-pierrepaul\">$60 million contract<\/a> on the table.\u00a0 Care to guess what happened to that?\u00a0 Yup, the Giants have withdrawn that offer, obviously wanting to see the extent of the damage that was caused.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Making matters worse is that JPP had some leverage in his negotiations with the Giants.\u00a0 He was coming off a very good year, re-establishing himself as a top tier defensive end.\u00a0 The Giants maybe would have moved up their offer a little, in hopes of him signing a long term deal now\u2026but there\u2019s zero chance of that happening.\u00a0 Even if he plays up to the level he did last year, this injury will just add to the growing list of injuries\u2026which will further drive down his price if he becomes a free agent.\u00a0 Now, JPP will have to prove himself even more this year.\u00a0 And if he has to miss any games because of this, his price tag will continue to drop.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Making matters ever worse is he could stand to lose $14.8 million for this season.\u00a0 Generally speaking, the franchise contract is fully guaranteed.\u00a0 So, if JPP were to hurt himself in Week 1 and miss the rest of the season, he would still receive all of his $14.8 million.\u00a0 There is one, minor exception to that rule\u2026for a non-football related injury.\u00a0 In that situation, the franchise money is not guaranteed. \u00a0The Giants could cut him and not owe him a dime. \u00a0FYI, this is why players and the league fight over CBA negotiations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And that\u2019s what\u2019s most troubling at this point.\u00a0 While reports say JPP should be fine, he\u2019s (a) still in the hospital, and (b) the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/nfl\/story\/new-york-giants-jason-pierre-paul-refused-medical-help-from-team-070815\">Giants medical staff<\/a> has not been allowed to see him.\u00a0 Those are not exactly promising signs.\u00a0 Update:\u00a0 he\u2019s not fine, in fact, he had his <a href=\"https:\/\/deadspin.com\/report-jason-pierre-paul-had-his-right-index-finger-am-1716643885\">right index finger amputated<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bigredsportsmachine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Burning-Money-2.jpg?ssl=1\"><img York?\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 Should he be?\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 JPP can certainly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/giants\/index.ssf\/2012\/08\/giants_prince_amukamara_thrown.html\">dish it<\/a>, but these next few weeks will determine if he can take it. \u00a0He needs to\u00a0play the part of the embarrassed, humiliated and humbled athlete. \u00a0If instead he takes the spoiled child, I\u2019m beyond reproach route (a\/k\/a the Tom Brady) then he risks severing more than just his finger.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Let this be a lesson to you kids:\u00a0 wait until after you sign your long term contract before you buy a truckload worth of fireworks.\u00a0 Also, find a friend to light that shit up.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Enjoy your
