\"This<\/a>The weekend isn\u2019t even over, and The Machine is already calling it a success.\u00a0 The past 16 hours have consisted of the following activities:\u00a0 Casino, sports book, Coors Light, and Chicken Wings.\u00a0 And if that isn\u2019t enough to satisfy any man, how about an epic, 12 inning Game 1 for the ages.\u00a0 Let\u2019s recap:<\/p>\n

The Machine went international last night, traveling north to visit our friends in Canada in good old Niagara Falls.\u00a0 Why, you ask, would you go to Canada when you already live in the best country ever (go \u2018Merica!)?\u00a0 Jonesing for a wax museum and funny accents?\u00a0 No, friends.\u00a0 It\u2019s simple:\u00a0 while there are many things to blame Canada for (Bryan Adams, Molson Golden, purple money with the Queen of England\u2014seriously Canada, get your own fucking queen you hosers) there\u2019s one thing they got right:\u00a0 sports betting.\u00a0 And since The Machine\u2019s bookie is \u201ctaking some time off\u201d we\u2019re left with no choice but the head north.<\/p>\n

But fear not.\u00a0 The Machine\u2019s ethnocentrism kicked in, so we crossed the border and used Canada like the cheap hooker that it is.\u00a0 Total time spent in Canada:\u00a0 45 minutes.<\/p>\n

Upon crossing back over, The Machine quickly made its way to its favorite watering hole, hoping to catch the end of the Yanks\/Tigers game.\u00a0 We walked into the bar in the bottom of the ninth, Tigers up 4-0.\u00a0 A noticeable amount of \u201cfans\u201d had already left Yankee Stadium (fickle bitches), and the bar smelled of dejection.\u00a0 However, The Machine knew better.\u00a0 One out, Jeter on second, and Papa Malo on the mound\u2026and that\u2019s when all hell broke loose.<\/p>\n

The next 6 minutes were surreal.\u00a0 Ichiro\u2026bomb.\u00a0 4-2.\u00a0 Now there\u2019s two outs, Tex with an 0-2 count, and The Machine (at least the part that\u2019s a Tigers fan) was feeling better.\u00a0 Until the following happened:\u00a0 ball, ball, ball, ball\u2026and up walks Raul Ibanez.\u00a0 Was there any doubt he was hitting it out?\u00a0 BOOM!!\u00a0 4-4.\u00a0 Tied ballgame.\u00a0 At that point, Jim Leyland (clearly in need of a smoke) yanked Valverde (btw, if you need to know when to pull a pitcher, it\u2019s right after the fucker gave up a 4 run lead in the bottom of the ninth).\u00a0 Anyway, the Yanks luck ended right there, as the Tigers somehow persevered Papa Douchebag and wound up winning in 12\u2026and Jeter snapped his ankle in the process.<\/p>\n

While all that points to the Tigers having the upper hand in the series, don\u2019t be so sure.\u00a0 Unless the Tigers\u2019 starting pitchers can go 9 innings every game (sure JV can but who else?) Valverde is going to go back on the mound\u2026and with that, the Yankees are assured that they will always be in the game.\u00a0 Don\u2019t forget, Valverde blew a 3-1 ninth inning lead in Game 4 against the A\u2019s\u2026last night wasn\u2019t an anomaly, it was a pattern.\u00a0 For the Tigers to win this series, Leyland needs to show some Girardi-like stones and bench Valverde.\u00a0 Sounds crazy, but so did benching A-Rod.<\/p>\n

In any event, if the rest of this series can live up to Game 1, it\u2019s going to be an epic battle.\u00a0 The Yankees should be able to right the ship today against Anaibal Sanchez (no way he\u2019s going the distance).\u00a0 But they still have to face Verlander twice\u2026got to love the Tigers chances there.<\/p>\n

Anyway, the only way this weekend could get better is if The Machine hits on its 5-team parlay.\u00a0 Here we go (Cleveland, Baltimore, Philly, St. Louis, Buffalo) here we go!!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
