Marlins.\u00a0 Cubs are ahead in the series 3-2.\u00a0 Top of the 8<sup>th<\/sup>, Cubs leading 3-0 and are 5 outs away from going to their first World Series in 58 (now 68) years.\u00a0 The Wrigley faithful are electric.\u00a0 This is our year\u2026and then it happens.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iframewidth=560height=315src=\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6er1XE2j0pEframeborder=0allowfullscreen\/iframe\">https:\/\/<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6er1XE2j0pE\" height=\"315\" width=\"560\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Foul ball down the left field line.\u00a0 Moises Alou\u00a0jumps into the stands to try and\u00a0catch the ball amidst a crowd of people, including Bartman\u00a0(and others).\u00a0 He doesn\u2019t catch the ball, but instead throws a temper tantrum at Bartman, who (unknowingly) has just become the most hated person in all of Chicago.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1119\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a escorted out of his seat and has to leave Wrigley in a disguise.\u00a0 Obviously, the Cubs lose Game 7, haven\u2019t been back to the playoffs since, and it\u2019s all because of Steve Motherfucking\u00a0Bartman.*<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who really believes that Steve Bartman\u00a0(a lifelong Cubs fan) caused the Cubs to lose is 100% bat shit crazy.\u00a0 Let\u2019s look at some things that Cubs fans aren\u2019t familiar with:\u00a0 facts.\u00a0 First, there\u2019s no way Alou catches that ball.\u00a0 ESPN can write all<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1120\" style=\"width: 310px\" photo.\u00a0 Enough said.\u00a0 Second, this would probably have been a non-issue but for Moises\u2019 childish hissy fit, which really set things in motion.\u00a0 Third, it was Game 6, there was still an entirely different game to play, at home, in a Bartman-free\u00a0Wrigley.\u00a0 Fourth, if you really want to blame someone (aren\u2019t we all looking for someone to blame for our failures?), blame Alex Motherfucking Gonzalez*, who botched an easy (inning ending) double play.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Yes, there are a ton of reasons why Bartman is not to blame.\u00a0 However, in the ensuing 10 years, he\u2019s had to live a life of relative obscurity.\u00a0 Surprisingly, he still lives in Chicago, but hasn\u2019t been back to Wrigley, and refuses to do any interviews or make any public appearances, despite ESPN\u2019s desperate attempts to get him on camera.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019d think that people would be able to move on.\u00a0 Reasonable sports fans would.\u00a0 But, then again, we\u2019re talking about people who actually believe their team was cursed by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicago-cubs-fan.com\/Chicago-Cubs-Curse.html\">billy goat in 1945<\/a>.\u00a0 So, really, when you take that to its logical conclusion, it can\u2019t be Bartman\u2019s fault because it\u2019s Billy Motherfucking Goat\u2019s* fault.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1121\" href=\"https:\/\/usatoday30.usatoday.com\/sports\/baseball\/nl\/cubs\/2004-02-26-bartman-ball-destroyed_x.htm\">purchased the Bartman baseball <\/a>for just over $113,000.\u00a0 They asked people for suggestions on what they should do with the ball.\u00a0 They received over 20,000 suggestions (hello, crazy).\u00a0 Ultimately, they decided to blow it up in front of a live nationally televised audience.\u00a0 Stay classy, Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>Hey, Cubbies, listen up:\u00a0 Let.\u00a0 It.\u00a0 Go.\u00a0 It\u2019s been 10 years and your team sucks.\u00a0 And it\u2019s not Bartman\u2019s fault.\u00a0 It never was.\u00a0 Trying to blame others for your teams failures is a move normally reserved to suburban helicopter parents.\u00a0 The Cubs, by sitting silent through all this, have assisted in irretrievably screwing up this guy\u2019s life. \u00a0If I\u2019m the Cubs, I\u2019d invite Bartman back to throw the first pitch and sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame, and formally apologize on behalf of your (neurotic\/sociopathic\/manic-depressive\/alcoholic) fan base.\u00a0 However, such a move, according to notable Chicago sports journalists, would be unthinkable.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Says Michael Wilbon, \u201cWhat does the organization stand to gain by that?\u00a0 I\u2019ll tell you:\u00a0 Nothing.\u201d\u00a0 The fact that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.twincities.com\/sports\/ci_24305047\/steve-bartman-ten-years-later-infamous-cubs-fan\">reputable journalists<\/a>\u00a0discredit the idea of a Bartman\u00a0reunion is ridiculous.\u00a0 The man\u2019s life has been ruined, he\u2019s been in hiding for 10 years and has an entire City (still) blaming him for losing the World Series, excuse me, for losing Game 6 of the NLCS\u00a0which would have gotten them to the World Series, and they\u2019re concerned with what impact it would have on the Cubbies.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t care how many \u201cwicked retahdes\u201d or \u201cfugethabboutits\u201d I have to sit through in Fenway or Yankee Stadium, respectively, it\u2019s certainly more enjoyable to know that at least I\u2019ll be surrounded by
